Chiana-Paga NDC denies involvement of Parliamentary candidate in violent activities

Leadership of the National Democratic Congress in the Chiana-Paga Constituency of the Upper East Region have said that the allegations put forward by the New Patriotic Party that their Parliamentary Candidate, Nikyema Billa Alamzy is involved in violent activities in the Constituency, are pure untruths.
The party said the allegations have been cooked up to dent the reputation of the peace-loving Nikyema Billa Alamzy, for political points.
In a strong condemnation of the allegations, the NDC said its parliamentary candidate has enormous regard for the democratic ideals of the party and would not in any way engage in actions that would impugn it and threaten the peace being enjoyed in the Constituency.
“As a social Democratic Party that believes in egalitarian of human society and a party that sacrificed and gave birth to the Fourth Republic, we know and cherish democracy and will not toy with its ideals.”
“The blind attempt to associate our revered incoming MP with violence is dead on arrival and their most cherished customers will not even buy such illusions and juvenile narration,” the party stressed.
Accusations
The New Patriotic Party in the Constituency at a press conference on Sunday (March 10,2024), leveled allegations of violent behaviors against the aspiring MP, accusing he and his team of orchestrating attacks against supporters of the elephant family.
The NPP, which chronicled the attacks, said the most recent of the attacks happened during the 67th Independence celebration held at the Paga town park, where one of its members was stabbed with a sharp object. A second person also suffered injuries to his arms in the attack which was doused by the police.
The NPP also alleged that Nikyema Alamzy has created a vigilante group comprising Burkinabe nationals, which he was using to terrorize innocent members of the public.
Denial
But speaking to the media at a counter press conference, the NDC denied any knowledge of any violent attacks involving its parliamentary candidate Nikyema Billa Alamzy. The party also denied the creation of a vigilante group by Nikyema Alamzy.
Rather, the party said Nikyema Alamzy is a devoted Muslim who was committing his time and resources to championing peace, unity and peaceful coexistence and ensuring accelerated development in the constituency.
On the alleged vigilante group, the party explained that it was a fitness of likeminded individuals who believed in the ideologies of Nikyema Alamzy.
It said since Nikyema Alamzy fronted the party as the parliamentary candidate, his focus has been on preaching the ideals of the NDC to the electorates and galvanizing them for victory in elections 2024.
“Hon Alamzy is a devoted and practicing Muslim, a business person and young politician. As such, he will only use nonviolent conducts to attain his political pursuits,”
“Again, the Save Ghana Group is a non-violence movement that believes in the spirit of solidarity for themselves, the group and Ghana as a whole. Members believe in the entrepreneurial and leadership traits of our parliamentary candidate Hon Alamzy.”
Rescuing Ghana
The NDC said it was not distracted by the lies as it was focused on rescuing the country from the clutches of the NPP which had failed woefully in delivering its numerous promises such as the “one village, one dam”, “one district, one factory”, “one million dollars per constituency”, among others.
The party used the opportunity to rally the electorates to support the NDC which was going to use the 24-hour economy policy to turn around the fortunes of the country’s economy.
“The Hon. PC and the Constituency Executives have just ended a very successful Thank You Tour in the entire constituency. The responses from the grassroots, the commitment and resolute spirit have given the NPP sleepless nights and the only way to dilute our fronts is to throw lies to the public. We as a party together with you the media need answers from the NPP as to their numerous promises such the one million dollars per constituency, the One Village One Dam, One District One Factory, the state of the National Cathedral etc”,
“Ghanaians are fed up with the NPP for the unduly quagmires and excruciating pains they inflicted on us. The NDC is poised to rescue this county from the paranoid regime of Nana Addo and Bawumia with our superior 24-hour economy and other pragmatic policies,” the party stated.
