PSG boss reveals approach to outsmart Dortmund in UCL semis

Paris St-Germain (PSG) manager Luis Enrique is determined to overturn the deficit in the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund and secure a spot in the final.

Following their 1-0 defeat in the first leg in Dortmund, PSG faces an uphill battle to progress. However, Enrique’s focus remains solely on winning the second leg without fixating on the need to score multiple goals.

“The aim isn’t to win by two goals, but to win,” Enrique emphasized, highlighting the importance of focusing on the task at hand rather than setting lofty targets.

Enrique stressed the need for his team to maintain a balanced approach, focusing equally on attack and defense. He cautioned against becoming overly fixated on scoring goals quickly, recognising the risks involved in neglecting defensive responsibilities.

“We have to be 100% focused on attack and defense,” Enrique emphasised, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of football. “If we concede a goal, it is not serious, we have to stay calm.”

With PSG’s ultimate goal being to secure their first Champions League title, Enrique is aware of the challenges ahead but remains optimistic about his team’s chances.

“It will be an even game with a high level of play on and off the ball, so it will be tough for both teams,” he stated, acknowledging the intensity of the upcoming clash.

Having lost in the 2020 final, the Frennch side is determined to reach another final and clinch the trophy for the first time in their history.
