Cole Palmer breaks Hazard’s Chelsea record in debut season

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has now edged Eden Hazard’s personal best Premier League goal contribution tally with 32 involvements.

22 goals and 10 assists means Palmer strikes an average of a goal or assist per game played for Chelsea this season in the league after 32 matches.

Chelsea legend Eden Hazard reached 31 contributions for goals and assists ( 16 and 15) respectively, in his final season at the club (2018/19), before leaving for Real Madrid in Spain.

Since then, many players have sought to be the reliable figure for the Blues, yet have failed to do so.

In his first full season at Stamford Bridge, Palmer has secured 39 goal involvements in all competitions and looks poised to fill the boots of Hazard as the new dependable figure upfront for Mauricio Pochettino’s rebuild at London.

He may not have the flair and skill set of the former Belgian international, yet his effectiveness speaks volumes of his ability to create space and hurt opposition defenders, and that could serve the Englishman well in the coming years.

The England international is in contention for both the Premier League Player of the Year as well as the Young Player of the Year award where he faces fierce competition from Manchester City duo Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.
