Philadelphia Union midfielder Cavan Sullivan has assured fans to expect more from him after setting the record of the youngest ever to play in the Major Soccer League (MLS).

At just 14 years and 293 days old, Sullivan achieved this milestone during the Philadelphia Union’s 5-1 victory over the New England Revolution at Subaru Park.

Sullivan, who was brought on as an 85th-minute substitute, surpassed the previous record held by Freddy Adu, who was 14 years and 306 days old when he debuted for DC United in 2004.

Reflecting on his historic achievement, Sullivan expressed a mix of pride and humility.

“This is just the start. I am really happy to have done this but it is honestly the first box checked off,” Sullivan said. “I know it is all about where you finish, not where you start.”

Sullivan’s debut comes after he signed with Philadelphia Union in May, securing the most significant home-grown player deal in MLS history. His future is already being closely watched, with Manchester City expected to secure his services when he turns 18.

As he embarks on his professional career, Sullivan’s remarkable achievement has captured the attention of soccer fans, marking the beginning of what promises to be a highly promising journey in the sport.
