Hold on with the debate until EC certifies aspirants – Rodaline Ayarna tells IEA

A member of the Movement for Change, Rodaline Imoru Ayarna has told the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) to hold on with its planned presidential debate until after the electoral commission has certified the presidential aspirants.
She says that the leader of the Movement for Change Alan Kyerematen will participate in the debate.
IEA should hold on until the EC comes out with the certified presidential candidates,” she said on the Big Issue on TV3 on Thursday, August 8.
She added, “The Movement for Change will participate in the debate, it will afford us visibility, it will afford us the opportunity to tell Ghanaians our vision.”
The IEA has set the months of October and November to host debates for selected presidential candidates and their running mates seeking to contest in the December 7 elections.
A distinguished fellow at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Sophia Akuffo justified the need for a presidential debate going into the 2024 general elections.
She says the debate will provide a unique platform and opportunity for the candidates to explain in detail their policies for the country while drawing out their credibility and competence.
“While we tackle our challenges, we need vision, courage, and wisdom to shape our common future.
“This highlights the importance of a debate in drawing out the vision, competence, credibility and capacity of candidates in addressing our national challenges,” the former Chief Justice said while announcing dates for the debates this year.
