Raheem Sterling has been excluded from Chelsea’s squad for their Europa Conference League play-off first leg against Servette.
This marks the second consecutive match that the English forward has been omitted from the matchday squad, following his absence from the Premier League opener against Manchester City.
Sterling’s representatives have expressed a desire for “clarity” regarding his future at Chelsea, amidst the club’s significant spending spree this summer. With a squad of over 40 senior players, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has acknowledged the challenge of finding playing time for all his players.
While Sterling has made 81 appearances for Chelsea since his arrival from Manchester City in 2022, his future at the club remains uncertain.
The Europa Conference League play-off series could provide a potential opportunity for Sterling to feature if Chelsea advance to the group stage.
