NPP justifies disqualification of Assin South MP aspirant Professor Nathan Austin

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has defended its decision to disqualify Professor Nathan Austin from participating in the Assin South parliamentary primaries.

The party cited Professor Austin’s dual citizenship and lack of voter registration in Ghana as reasons for his disqualification.

Additionally, it claimed that Prof. Nathan Austin had been absent from party activities for the past eight years.

Meanwhile, Elvis Bosomtwe, the Constituency Secretary of the NPP, asserted that the vetting process was conducted impartially.

He accused Prof. Austin of intentionally damaging the party’s reputation and called for accountability.

“More so, the party does not think the youth group, Concerned Youth of Assin South, do not find it inappropriate for the Vetting Committee to have gone ahead with the balloting process as further clarity was to be sought as they clearly indicated in their presser.

“The party does not also think that the group ( Concerned Youth of Assin South) in their call for fairness and a level playing field positing that even in the face of clear violations of the guidelines governing the processes for selecting suitable and qualified candidates by an aspirant must be overlooked,” an excerpt of his press release stated.
