The National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to Government to pay up all over-due arrears or be hit with a series of picketing activities.

The 250-member Association says its members are suffering severe financial difficulties owing to Government’s indebtedness to it.

NAIS, which has been a key player in supplying school uniforms, house dresses, and school clothes to Senior High Schools (SHS) across Ghana, is facing a severe financial crisis.

The National Secretary for NAIS, Amoah Talhir in an interview on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show on February 1, expressed frustration over the lack of response from the Ministry of Education and recounted the dismissive remarks made by Honorable Minister Adutwum during their recent meeting.

He highlighted the adverse impact of corrupt practices within Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the supply chain, leading to a stagnant market and slow business for NAIS members.

The Public Relations Officer (P.R.O), Emmanuel Ayivor, also unveiled the Association’s plan to picket at the Ministry of Education until their demands are met.

He revealed that some banks are threatening to confiscate properties of NAIS members due to outstanding debts, creating a dire situation for suppliers struggling to raise capital for new supplies.

He concluded that the picketing continues until their demands are met.
