I’ve not received payment for 2012 ‘Nana Y3 Winner’ campaign song – SHE

Musician, SHE

Ghanaian vocalist, Yvonne Ohene Djan populary known as SHE (the voice behind the stars) has revealed she did not take any payment for singing the popular NPP campaign song in 2012, ‘Nana y3 winner’.

SHE was the vocalist and sang the catchy chorus “Nana Nana y3 winner” in the song which was composed by Daddy Lumba as a campaign song for President Akufo-Addo in the 2012 election.

“That day I was in a hurry. I think I had the next day to leave to the US and Lumba pleaded with me to wait and help him work on one last song. So, I agreed,” she noted in an interview with AJ Sarpong on 3FM Drive.

However, she added that President Akufo-Addo later asked her to come for her payment when he met her at Kwabena Kwabena’s wedding ceremony in 2012.

“Nana actually told me the day he met me at Kwabena’s wedding to come for my payment. Even his wife commended me for the song. He wanted to honour me but I couldn’t go but I will go for it,” she stated.

SHE further pleaded with the President Akufo-Addo for not honouring his invitation.

According to her, at the time she did not mind being featured on political songs because she considered music as just music irrespective of the audience.

“It’s like radio. Every religion listens to radio. You cannot say you won’t listen to radio because you are a Christian. I do music so once you will pay me for singing for you, I do not have any problem. I really enjoyed it,” she added.

SHE is known for being the voice behind many hit songs in Ghana across various genres such as hiplife, highlife, hiplife, reggae and gospel.
