Arsenal manager provides positive update on Thomas Partey’s injury recovery

Partey returns to first team training

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has offered an encouraging update regarding the sidelined midfielder Thomas Partey.

The Ghanaian international has been notably absent from much of this season’s action due to a series of unfortunate injuries.

The 30-year-old has struggled to make his mark on the pitch, managing just five appearances thus far.

His absence has been particularly felt by the Gunners, especially given their aspirations in the Premier League title race.

Arteta provided insight into Partey’s recovery, stating, “There’s not big setbacks. Thomas Partey is progressing really well. It looks very good and he’s on the field already. Hopefully, a couple of weeks.”

Partey’s potential return could coincide with Arsenal’s fixtures against Sheffield United on 4 March or Brentford five days later.

His absence was also keenly felt during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana faltered in the group stage without his presence.

Despite the anticipation of Partey’s return, Arsenal fans are understandably focused on his sustained fitness, prioritizing his freedom from injury above all else.

Furthermore, rumours linking Partey with a departure from Arsenal have circulated, with intense speculation during the last summer transfer window.

His contract with the club is set to expire in 2025, adding an extra layer of intrigue to his future with the Gunners.
