EC must tell us what is happening – NDC Comms Director on challenges experienced at voter registration centres

Deputy National Communications Director of the NDC, Godwin Ako Gunn

Deputy National Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn, has demanded transparency from the Electoral Commission regarding the challenges plaguing the voter registration process nationwide.

Gunn expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the Commission, emphasizing the critical importance of resolving issues promptly to ensure the success of the upcoming December 7 elections.

“It is frustrating,” Gunn lamented, “and it is too early for us to be experiencing these frustrations,” he added. “The success of this event will determine the success of the December 7 elections.”

Gunn urged the Electoral Commission to prioritize its core mandate of facilitating voter registration over engaging in political rhetoric.

He further emphasized, “The EC should focus on its core mandate of registering people rather than throwing shades at political parties.”

Bemoaning the challenges, Ako Gun called on the EC to be transparent with the cause of the challenges “No one is telling anybody anything,” he stated. “If the Electoral Commission is able to tell us that because of A, B, C, and D, this is the frustration they are going through and they hope that they will be able to solve it, I think that will calm the people down.”
