Director of Legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Godwin Edudzi Tameklo has objected to a comment by a Governance Expert Professor Baffuor Agyeman-Duah that nothing much will change even if the NDC wins the elections this year.

Edudzi says that the flagbearer of the NDC, former President John Dramani Mahama is better placed under the circumstances to tackle the economic challenges.

Professor Baffuor Agyeman-Duah, while making his comment that nothing much will change under the NDC, also indicated that if the NDC wins, they will have no option but to continue the ongoing programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the conditions attached to it.

He said this while making an observation on the nature of democracy Ghana is practicing, on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, August 10.

To him, although democracy is good, the way and manner it is being done in Ghana has not been beneficial to Ghanaians.

He stressed that the one achievement of Ghana’s democracy is the successful change of government in the Fourth Republic.

“When you engage, they are very disappointed, they don’t know the future for themselves, they don’t see the future…we the elders are not demonstrating that the future will be bright for them, they know our democracy is overly monetized, they know people steal money and buy their seats.

“NDC taking over the government will not change much, they are not going to change anything because Ghana is already overburdened with debts, the youth are very agitated but of course, somebody has to win and the people of Ghana will decide,” he said.

But also commenting on the same show, Edudzi Tameklo said “I disagree with [Prof Agyemsan-Dua], unless Prof is saying we should continue with what we have now, he can’t say that.

“HE John Dramani Mahama, with his experience from governance, is better placed under the circumstance to lead this country to where we want to go.”
