Global IT outage: KIA remains unaffected – GACL

The Kotoka International Airport (KIA) has not been affected by the ongoing global IT outage, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).
On Friday July 19, industries across the globe, including airlines, banks, retail outlets, and broadcasters, are grappling with a significant IT outage, resulting in the grounding of flights and widespread delays, particularly among major U.S. airlines.
Despite Microsoft’s assurance that the issue has been resolved, problems persist, with blue error screens appearing on public displays across the U.S. and beyond.
In a statement released on Friday, the GACL management said that the GACL has assured that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide necessary updates to the travelling public as the situation evolves.
the KIA has remained unaffected by this disruption, and all flights are operating as per their schedules.
“We would like to assure the general public that Kotoka International Airport’s IT systems are intact. However, due to the global nature of the glitch, some flight delays and interruptions may be experienced from countries affected by the glitch, which may have a slight impact on Accra”, the statement read.
So far, out of the 24 International airlines operating at KIA, only one has had to cancel some of its scheduled flights.
“All other operations are uninterrupted and on schedule as usual”, the statement concluded.
