The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, has welcomed the new Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam.

She says that Dr Amin Asam’s leadership will be essential in sustaining Ghana’s reform effort and in further extending the current momentum of compelling programme performance and gradual economic stabilization.

She told Dr Adam to spearhead efforts to restore stability to Ghana’s economy.

Dr Mohammed Amin Adam was elevated from his post as Minister of State at the Finance Ministry to be the substantive Minister for the Finance Ministry by the President in the latest reshuffle. He replaced Mr Ken Ofori-Atta.

In a congratulatory statement, the IMF boss said “Your leadership will be essential in sustaining Ghana’s reform effort and in further extending the current momentum of compelling program performance and gradual economic stabilization.

“I would like to assure you of the International Monetary Fund’s continued commitment to support you in these endeavors,”
