Local Government Minister directs MMDCEs to demolish all cattle ranches located on streets

The Minister for Local Government, Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah, has directed all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to demolish all cattle ranches located on the streets and confiscate the animals.

There has been growing concern over cattle and animals competing for space with drivers on most ceremonial streets.

Mr Adjei Mensah-Korsah says both the chief executives and the owners of the animals would be held liable if the directive is not headed.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 on Wednesday June 12, the Minister said “Animals that stray in the City when parks and gardens spend resources to fix our medians, plant flowers to beautify the city then the people leave their animals to go and destroy them just for food. I think we can’t tolerate this.

“MMDCEs headed by CEO are going to have themselves to blame if this spectacle continues. you can’t for any reason decide to look unconcerned when people turn our ceremonial streets into rearing animals.

“We are asking the assemblies to do the needful, the things that make our society a better place, they have to.”
