The Minister of Local Government Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Korsah has, on behalf of the Transport Minister withdrawn the controversial Legislative Instrument (LI) on Road Traffic Amendments to Regulation 74.
There was a huge public outrage over the proposed law that sought to amend portions of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012.
But speaking on the floor of parliament on Tuesday, July 16, Adjei-Mensah Korsah said “Mr Speaker, I rise to move that the Road Traffic Amendment Regulation 2024 which was laid on Friday 14t June 2024 be withdrawn.
“This has become necessary based on the extensive engagement with leadership. It is so withdrawn.”
The Minority had earlier demanded the withdrawal of the proposed amendments to the Road Traffic Regulations.
