Nyantakyi vows to resurrect Ghana football as he declares intention to contest Ejisu seat

Former GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has wowed to put Ghana football back on its toes should he win the upcoming bye election in the Ejisu Constituency.

Following the untimely passing of John Kumah who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, a number of New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwarts have declared their intention to contest the seat with Nyantakyi emerging as a strong contender.

In an interview with Onua TV, he expressed ambition to revive Ghana Football which he spearheaded some six years ago.

“I will ensure that the GFA takes back its past glory,” he told Captain Smart on Tuesday, April 2.

“I am a former President [of the GFA], so I see myself as an insider,” he added.

“Wherever I find myself I have to use my wisdom to help improve not only football but sports as a whole. I am also a lawyer, so I will use all that to help develop football.”

Nyantakyi’s administrative career in football came to a halt when he suffered series of suspensions from football governing bodies over an alleged corruption scandals at the GFA following an expose released by TigerEye PI.

However, the former Wa All Stars boss seem to be navigating his way through to the top once more with a number of legal battles ending quite in his favour.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to open nominations for the Ejisu primary later today, Tuesday, April 2.

Mr Nyantakyi says delegates have resolved to pick the forms on his behalf.
