Police arrest one in connection with attack on Ayawaso West Wuogon NPP’s office

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Judith Trisy, for her suspected role in the attack on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) office in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency on Sunday, July 7.

In a statement released on Monday, July 8, the police confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations.

The police added that efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

“The Ghana Police Service has arrested suspect Judith Trisy, identified as one of the people who attacked the Ayawaso West Wuogon office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on 7th July 2024.”

“The suspect is in custody assisting the investigation while efforts are ongoing to get the remaining suspects arrested,” the statement said.

On Sunday, the police revealed that they are on a manhunt for a group of individuals responsible for attacking and damaging property, including two vehicles, at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) office in Ayawaso West Wuogon.

It is not clear yet what led to the attack but unconfirmed reports claim that unauthorized voter registration exercise was ongoing at the party’s office in the constituency.

“We want to assure the public that we are taking this matter very seriously,” a police statement said.

The police said, “The perpetrators will be found and brought to justice. Acts of violence and destruction of property will not be tolerated.”
