Representing Ghana was a childhood dream – Black Stars forward Thomas-Asante

West Bromwich Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed his joy after representing Ghana in the recent 2026 World Cup qualification assignment.
Thomas-Asante made his first appearance for Ghana in the thrilling 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic on a rain-soaked Monday night at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Though he was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win against Mali in Bamako, he was brought on in the closing stages against the Central African Republic for his debut.
The 25-year-old forward replaced Mohammed Kudus in the 88th minute, helping the Black Stars secure an important win to go top of the group. Ghana held on for a narrow 4-3 victory.
Reflecting on his debut, Thomas-Asante shared his excitement and pride: “I’m feeling good and it was a really good summer. It was really exciting to go away with the national team for the very first time. It’s something I’ve wanted to do forever, to represent Ghana, since I was a child,” he told the club’s website.

“To be able to play with different players and get a different outlook on things was refreshing. I really enjoyed being with Ghana in the summer which was really good. I came back from international duty and had a breather, but then got back to work here pretty quickly. I couldn’t stay away for too long; I wanted to come back sooner than what my report date was.”
Born in Milton Keynes to a Ghanaian father and a Jamaican mother, Thomas-Asante’s performance against the Central African Republic provided a glimpse of his potential contribution to the Black Stars in future matches.
